Iron Deficiency & Infertility

Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in women of reproductive age groups most people know that iron deficiency makes is feel tried, dizzy, breathless etc.

However, most of us do not know, that grow deficiency can have a signification impact on fertility.

Researchers have found that, iron deficiency leads to poor egg quality, due to insufficient oxygen to the reproduction organs iron deficient women are likely to suffer from an ovulation.

When an iron deficient women become pregnant then lack of oxygen supply effects baby’s development and increase chances of miscarriage & preterm birth.

Proper iron supplementation has known to improve fertility & Pregnancy outcome.

When we go for testing serum fertility is used to measure the body’s iron status. Usually, optimal range for ferity in is above 50hg/ml.

Measures to improve iron deficiency:-

Diet:- incorporating iron rich foods in your diet can do fertility worders make sure to take vitamin C along with iron rich foods.Iron rich food include nuts & seeds, legumes, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, dried fruit, chicken, salmon, eggs. Vitamin C rich foods citrus fruit, kiwi, broccoli, tomatoes, etc.

Iron supplements:- Oral dose of 10-15mg/day is recommended for adult female.So, if you are planning to get pregnant, then its time to optimize your iron levels! As inadequate iron can present ovulation, make eggs unviable, present proper placental development and increase chances of miscarriage and preterm birth!
